Midland Gliding Club Seeks New Members

Midland Gliding Club on the Long Mynd is one of the oldest and certainly the highest gliding club in the UK. We have been training glider pilots from our airfield for over 75 years with free weekend instruction and a fleet of modern two and single seat gliders. Our fee system provides unlimited free use of the club gliders for all full flying members, making gliding one of the least expensive ways into sport aviation or as a grounding for a future commercial pilot. At MGC you can fly as much as you like over a full year for just £60.50 a month. The only thing for which you pay extra is
launch fees on the day, less than £10 per launch. Juniors under 21 get almost everything at half price.
The best way to see if you will like gliding is to take a Trial Lesson with one of our experienced instructors in a modern two seat glider with dual controls. From the very first flight you will take the controls and experience soaring high above the Shropshire Hills using only the energy from the sun and wind.
Trial Lessons start from £95 and include three months club membership during which time you can fly as much as you like at club rates. Anyone can fly a glider starting from 14 years old. We have members well into their 80s and it is equally suitable to men and women. If you can drive a car you already have most of the attributes needed to pilot a glider.
Every Friday evening during July at 6pm we are opening the club to those interested in the sport and potential new members. You will meet the members, see how the flying operates, be given an opportunity to look around inside the club house and to take a Trial Lesson. Trial Lessons are strictly on a first come first fly basis and will be limited by numbers, time and weather conditions on the day.
